It's rant time, folks...You know what really pisses me off?
When I can't get through to someone how important it is to use AdWords conversion tracking.
When they think their tracking system works well enough.
I've got news for you, freaks...
Unless your tracking system tells you which keywords and which ads got you your lead or sale and how much revenue each gave you, you're scr**ed.
SCR**ED.
As in... your competitors who DO track those things will beat the tar out of you.
And you really don't want to make me angry... because

I'll beat the tar out of you if you don't get this through your thick skull:
Unless you know which keywords and which ads perform the best, YOU CAN'T OPTIMIZE.
Unless you know which
keywords and which
ads perform the best...
YOU CAN'T OPTIMIZE.
YOU CAN'T IMPROVE THE PERFORMANCE OF YOUR CAMPAIGNS.
You can try, but you'll be guessing about which ads and keywords are really doing it for you.
End of Rant.
Install AdWords Conversion Tracking now.
I'll tell you why it pisses me off.
Without that information, I can't help you.
I WANT to help you.
I've made accounts perform 10x better because of optimizations I've made
IF I HAVE THE CONVERSION TRACKING INSTALLED.
I want you to
- get 10x the profits, or
- spend 10x less to get the same results,
- waste 1/10th as much of your money,
- increase the size of your orders.
But I can't do it without that conversion code.
DO IT!
Here's another reason: all analytics packages will give you different results for the same website and time period.
Maddening, I know.
We've used urchin, Google Analytics, and Omniture. I've spoken with agencies that use WebTrends. It's the same everywhere.
What happens is, you lose data... the picture gets fuzzy.
So the best way to get the best data about what happens in AdWords is
FROM ADWORDS with ADWORDS conversion code.
It's simple. Keep it simple, stupid.
INSTALL IT. NOW.
And then you'll be...
...cool.
